Jussara (Fides Service) - “Eucharist, Bread of salvation and love” was the theme of 10th Regional Holy Childhood Meeting held 7 to 9 October in Jussara, Goiàs state, Brazil, the theme was chosen in keeping with the Year of the Eucharist October 2005-2005 now coming to a close. The meeting, organised Regional Mission Council of the Brazilian Bishops’ Conference and the regional office of the Holy Childhood Pontifical Mission Society, was held at the pastoral centre of the parish of Our Lady of Graces in Jussara.
The slogan of the meeting, attended by 650 children and adolescents, and young people animators and animation team members was “Holy Childhood Centre West Region come and partake in the Bread of Life!”. Holy Childhood delegations from 11 dioceses were present: Brasília, DF; Cristalândia; Goiânia; Goiás; Ipameri; Jataí; Luziânia; Palmas; Porto Nacional; São Luiz de Montes Belos; Uruaçu. Speakers included Bishop Geraldo Vieira Gusmão, Bishops’ Conference delegate for missionary pastoral centre west region; Rev. Daniele Lagni, national director Pontifical Mission Societies in Brazil and assistant to Holy Childhood Brazil Toninho Neto.
The children taking part stayed with local families and religious communities cooked the meals. The meeting closed with a solemn Mass presided by Bishop Eugène Lambert Adrian Rixen. (RZ) (Agenzia Fides 19/10/2005, righe 18, parole 225)
