Secunderabad (Agenzia Fides) - Donating blood as an act of mercy and compassion, to be rediscovered in the Jubilee Year: with this intention the "Catholic Health Association of India" (CHAI) organizes sessions of "blood donation" in different states of nation. Donors in four villages were involved during the last campaign, conducted in the area of Secunderabad. Donors receive a general check up on their health, with diabetes screening and other tests, as well as a kit that provides information on topics such as nutrition and hygiene.
As Fides learns, the tents which are set up are organized in collaboration with the "Christian Medical Association of India" (CMAI), and with the "National Council of Churches in India".
Fr. Tomi Thomas, general director of CHAI, said that "in 2016 the commitment in the healing ministry carried out by the Catholic Church, with its facilities and personnel, with the aim of compassion will strengthen", praising the good accomplished by Catholic health network, especially in favor of the poor and marginalized who cannot afford expensive medical treatment.
