Sialkot (Agenzia Fides) – A 50-year-old Christian, Nazir Masih, who worked at the municipal government council building in Sialkot, was busy cleaning the street 7 a.m. on 14 January when unknown gunmen shot him dead with four bullets. Nazir Masih was married to Samina Nazir and father of five children between 21 and 11.
His family and Christians in Sialkot call on the local police to undergo a thorough investigation and uphold justice by prosecuting Masih's killers and to compensate Masih's family since he was on duty at the time he was killed.
People who knew Nazir remember him "as a gentle, humble and devoted man, who had no enemies", therefore, no one understands the reasons for the murder. According to the police "Nazir was killed because he witnessed a crime that someone did not want him to see". Other police officers believe Masih's death could have been the result of a small-scale terrorist attack. Nazir Masih's family now finds themselves in serious financial problems.
