El Paso (Agenzia Fides) – The US Diocese of El Paso is inviting the faithful at the Sun Bowl Stadium, of the University of Texas in El Paso (UTEP), on February 17, to participate in the live broadcast of Pope Francis' visit in Mexico. This event is an alternative for those unable to reach Ciudad Juarez or prefer not to cross the border on the day when the Pope will be in the nearby town.
His Exc. Mgr. Mark J. Seitz, Bishop of the Diocese of El Paso, yesterday in a press conference confirmed the celebration, which will be called “Two Nations, One Faith” and will be held at the UTEP stadium, where the Pope’s Mass in Ciudad Juarez will be broadcast on giant screens. There will also be religious music with singer and guitarist Tony Melendez.
“We want as many faithful as possible to enjoy this wonderful visit, one of the most important in the region. That is why we decided to look for an adequate place to accommodate thousands of people”, said Mgr. Seitz. The stadium can hold up to 51,000 people, the doors will be open from 12 to 6pm.
Even the Catholic schools of El Paso will have the day off in order to be able to attend the celebration. (CE) (Agenzia Fides 20/01/2016)
