AFRICA/SUDAN - Health care for nomads and the poor in East Darfur

Ed Daein (Agenzia Fides) - The Zakat Chamber in eastern Darfur has announced the launch of programs and health care assistance for nomads by the end of January, with the goal of providing the best services to the poorest. As reported by Radio Dabanga, therapeutic activities will be ensured in a camp in Ed Daein, including 500 eye surgeries and medical check ups for 3.2 million patients. There are also vaccinations for over 80,000 people. In addition, the Deputy Prime Minister of Qatar said that his Country has planned to finance the construction of water wells in 11 locations in Darfur, in addition to 10 model villages.
