Khartoum (Agenzia Fides) - Since the end of August to 11 December 2015 hundreds of people died from dengue hemorrhagic fever.
This is what the health minister of West Darfur declared who added to the data 523 suspected cases of the virus, including 128 deaths. New cases are being recorded in the State capital, El Geneina, with more than 400 suspected cases. In the same period 571 suspected cases and 133 deaths in the whole of Sudan were recorded.
According to a note from the local Ministry of Health, sent to Fides, the ministry cannot just rely on the monitoring system of the community, because the laboratory services are not available in many parts of the State. In south and north Kordofan, between 17 October and 11 December 2015, 42 suspected cases were recorded, including four deaths. 6 other suspected cases, including one death, were reported in eastern Sudan, in Kassala, between 23 November and 11 December.
