Bukavu (Fides Service)- “We are preparing for the closing celebrations of the Year of the Eucharist while remembering our beloved Archbishop who left us in October the month of mission” said Fr Gianni Brentegani, Xaverian missionaries Superior regional in Bukavu east Congo where yesterday 13 October the local Church gathered for the funeral of Bishop Charles Mbogha Kambale, who died on Sunday 9 October after a long illness.
“The Eucharist is immensely comforting at times like these”- the missionary said- “and all the more in this the Year of the Eucharist which has been lived intensely by our people”.
“In Bukavu weekly Hours of Adoration held in every parish draw large crowds”.
“The Holy Hour is prepared in turn by one of the parish groups, under the direction of a priest” Fr. “Holy Hour is always at 5pm so working people can also take part and in fact churches are always filled with men, women and children”.
“Closing celebrations for the Year of the Eucharist in the archdioceses have almost been defined, a few details remain to be settled but they will certainly include a Mass and Adoration as a diocese” the missionary concluded. (L.M.) (Agenzia Fides 14/10/2005 righe parole)
