Buenos Aires (Agenzia Fides) - The flood of the Paraná and Uruguay rivers have caused the displacement of 500 Argentine families. According to official sources, in the city of Concordia 160 families were forced to leave their homes and take shelter in the surrounding area. In the northern province of Chaco, in Barranqueras, over 300 families have been evacuated and the situation may get worse in view of the flood of the Paraná river. In the province of Corrientes, there are difficulties, according to the Naval Prefecture of Argentina.
On the other side, in Reconquista, central province of Santa Fe, the river is beyond the level of evacuation, but local authorities are working to prevent the transfer of 800 other families. The overflow of the rivers in this month of December was aggravated by torrential rains in southern Brazil, Paraguay and northwest Argentina. (AP) (Agenzia Fides 22/12/2015)
