Bandung (Agenzia Fides) - The Union of Superiors General (UISG) brings together 17 religious congregations in Indonesia. As reported to Fides, in the recent meeting in Bandung, the religious elected Sister Veronica Manaan DSY (Servants of St. Joseph) as first president, while Dominican Sister Anna Marie OP is the secretary. In the meeting in Bandung, the representatives of the congregations stressed they want to "announce the Gospel in a creative way, in the spirit of their founders".
As reported by "PenaKatolik" information network of Indonesian Catholics, the religious issued a statement that reads: "We wish to live the nature of our religious vocation showing the face of God, who is merciful, compassionate, and we want to share the joy in this world proclaiming salvation for others, especially for the young, the weak, the poor, the marginalized, being actively involved in the care of all creation".
In this work the sisters have consciously chosen to support the initiative ''Eco Camp": an interreligious camp where to "share the care of the Earth and learn from the Earth". Born in 2002, today Eco Camp, is using Pope Francis’ encyclical 'Laudato Sì' ".
In Eco Camp participants learn to build an "ecological and environmental awareness", and develop love for mother earth. (PCP-PA) (Agenzia Fides 21/12/2015)
