Ho Chi Minh City (Agenzia Fides) - The Catholic university of Vietnam becomes reality and will be inaugurated in Ho Chi Minh City during the Jubilee Year: this was confirmed to Agenzia Fides by His Exc. Mgr. Paul Bui Van Doc, Archbishop of Ho Chi Minh City and President of the Episcopal Conference of Vietnam, promoter of the project of a theological institute at a university level. As reported to Fides, the Vietnamese Bishops, after having received official approval by the government in August, also obtained the ratification by the Holy See, through a decree of the Congregation for Catholic Education.
The Archbishop describes the joy of the Church in Vietnam to Fides: "We are very happy. The Lord had mercy on us. This is a historic step that will be necessary for the growth of the Vietnamese Church and gives us great hope. The service of education is a work of mercy. We are happy that this event takes place during the Jubilee Year. It will be a really special Jubilee for our Church". (PA) (Agenzia Fides 19/12/2015)
