ASIA/PAKISTAN - Groups of Spanish co-operators set up hospital in remote area of Pakistan not yet reached by aid workers

Rome (Fides Service) - Spanish Agency for International Cooperation AECI is opening a camp in Arya a remote interior region of Kashmir affected by the 8 October earthquake and which has not been reached by other aid workers.
Spanish Agency for International Cooperation AECI will put up a hospital and start treating the injured as soon as possible.
Arya, surrounded by mountains, is one of the most isolated parts of Pakistan and Spanish aide workers had to walk thirteen hours to reach the village.
The team of 30 people includes doctors, nurses and technicians, and hopes to find some survivors.
A second AECI group carrying medical equipment has reached Islamabad and will make its way to Arya where it expects to work for several weeks. (AP) (13/10/2005 Agenzia Fides; Righe:18; Parole:156)
