Caracas (Agenzia Fides) - The Archbishop of Caracas, Cardinal Jorge Urosa Savino, urged all political parties to prepare themselves to respect the results of the forthcoming parliamentary elections on 6 December. The country's president, Nicolas Maduro, "should be the first to respect the laws and stop inviting people to take to the streets to protest or already refuse the results of the parliamentary elections", said the Cardinal during a press conference. He also added that "asking people to take to the streets is something intolerable... state officials should invite to peace".
The situation in the capital has become tense as we approach the elections. Yesterday, Wednesday, November 25, an opposition leader was assassinated during a campaign demonstration. (CE) (Agenzia Fides 26/11/2015)
