AFRICA/MALAWI - Even the young Church in Malawi is preparing to celebrate the Jubilee of Mercy

Wednesday, 9 December 2015

Lilongwe (Agenzia Fides) - "The dioceses of Malawi are preparing to live the Jubilee of Mercy with great participation" writes to Agenzia Fides, Fr. Piergiorgio Gamba, Monfortan missionary. "On Saturday, December 12, the Diocese of Mangochi will open the door of the Cathedral for a year that will be a challenge to the whole Church to be reconciled with itself and ecumenically open to churches and faiths present in the country. It will be a year to talk about: the experience of a young Church now grown and ready to dialogue with the world", said the missionary.
Gamba also believes that "Pope Francis' visit to Africa will have a strong impact across the continent, though it will take some time to perhaps see the fruits, which will be however abundant". Malawi is one of the poorest Countries in the world, where the financial crisis which led to deep cuts to healthcare, is having serious consequences such as the return of leprosy (see Fides 26/11/2015).
