VATICAN - Monday 17 October Synod Bishops will join the Pope for evening Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in St Peter’s Basilica: everyone in Rome is warmly invited

Vatican City (Fides Service) - Monday 17 October the Bishops taking part in the 11th assembly of the Synod of Bishops will join Pope Benedict XVI in St Peter’s Basilica for evening Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction. In a note to announce to event the Office for the Liturgical Celebrations of the Supreme Pontiff said “as the special Year of the Eucharist comes to a close and while the 11th Ordinary general assembly of the Synod of Bishops reflects on the theme , we contemplate the Mystery of Love which is the source of the Church’s treasure. The people of Rome, members of the Curia, bishops, priests and religious and seminarians are all warmly invited to join the Synod Fathers and the Pope for the Hour of Adoration at 5pm. Special with prayers, hymns, Scripture readings on the Sacrament of the Eucharist chosen for the occasion and moments of sacred silence aim to foster ever keener awareness of Christ’s wondrous presence in the Eucharist and ever deeper communion with Him”.
