Montreal (Agenzia Fides) - The Cross of Evangelization, the symbol of the next American Missionary Congress of 2018, was officially welcomed in Canada by the Pontifical Mission Societies (PMS), after arriving in the country on 25 October.
As the PMS in Canada inform in a note sent to Fides, on July 9 in Bolivia, during his apostolic trip to South America, Pope Francis blessed 40 identical crosses: one for each American country, plus 18 for each Diocese in Bolivia. With this act the path to the V American Missionary Congress (CAM 5) to be held in the Bolivian city of Santa Cruz de la Sierra, in July 2018 officially began.
The Cross of Evangelization, which was made by artisans of the Bolivian region of Chiquitos, contains the relics of the Blessed Nazaria Ignacia March Mesa, the first to found a religious community in Bolivia. The cross will travel all the dioceses in Canada from 2016, in a pilgrimage organized by the PMS in collaboration with the diocese. (CE) (Agenzia Fides 29/10/2015)
