Monday, 10 October 2005

Honiara (Fides Service) - The centrality of the Eucharist in the religious life and the Eucharist as source of all apostolate: these were the main points emerging from a recent meeting of men and women Religious at the Marian Shrine on Mt Tamboko.
Men and women Religious of different congregations gathered for a day of reflection at Our Lady Queen of the Rosary shrine to discuss their charisma of prayer and apostolate, contemplation and mission.
The participants confirmed the centrality of the Eucharist in the religious life, as it has emerged in these past twelve months of the Year of the Eucharist which is coming to a close. They agreed that the centrality is the heritage of this special Year. Another point of reference is the figure of Mary a model of a life of communion with God and announcing the Good News to the world.
The participants also remembered Sr Aloisa Alathamalefao who died recently. They agreed that the locally born Sister left an indelible mark on the local Church with her years of dedication and service of teaching, collaborating with the clergy and caring for the sick.
