Llano Tugrì (Agenzia Fides) - At least 200 boys, girls and adolescents in Ngäbe Bugle, an indigenous area in Panama, have been saved from the work in the fields by the Ministry of Development and Labour (Mitradel). The cultivation of rice, potatoes, corn and Otoe are among the agricultural activities in which minors were involved as well as the sale of agricultural products and handicrafts. To try to avoid children returning to work, Mitradel, together with the Institute of Training of Human Resources, will deliver scholarships for the school year 2016. In addition, the Commission for the Eradication of Child Labour and the Protection of Adolescent workers (Cetippat), wants to eradicate the phenomenon and encourage the use of job insurances for teenagers in Panama.
