AMERICA/PERU - Towards Arequipa Diocesan Eucharistic Congress: 150 Eucharist Week Animators prepare with reflection on apostolic Letter “Dies Domini”

Arequipa (Fides Service) - Preparations continue with enthusiasm for a Diocesan Eucharistic Congress organised by the archdiocese of Arequipa on the theme “Eucharist, food for new life”, 13 - 20 November. The organising team has organised a Course for Parish Eucharist Week Animators 5 - 7 October on the theme of the making holy the Lord-s Day in the light of Pope John Paul II’s Apostolic Letter “Dies Domini”. The purpose of the course, attended by about 150 animators from 30 parishes was “to help participants understand and re-evaluate Sunday as the Day of the Lord when he calls us to his table”.
Themes illustrated in this intensive course include: “Dies Domini: celebrating the work of the Creator”; “Dies Christi: the Day of the Risen Lord and the gift of the Holy Spirit”; “Dies Ecclesiae: Eucharistic Assembly, heart of Sunday”; “Dies Hominis: Sunday, day of joy, rest and solidarity”; “Dies Dierum: Sunday primordial feast, which highlights the sense of time”. The course was presided by archbishop José Ríos Reynoso of Arequipa; Fr. Víctor Livori, Areqauipa Diocesan director of the Pontifical Mission Societies ; Fr. Julio Carpiñano, Fr.
