ULAANBAATOR – PREFECT APOSTOLIC REV. WENCESLAO PADILLA RAISED TO THE DIGNITY OF BISHOP

Vatican City (Fides Service) – The Holy Father, Pope John Paul II, has (2 August 2003) raised Rev. Wenceslao Padilla C.I.C.M., Prefect Apostolic of Ulaan Baator, Mongolia, to the dignity of Bishop, assigning to him the titular see of Tharros.
Bishop elect Wenceslao Padilla was born on 29 September 1949 at Tubao, diocese of San Fernando de La Union (Philippines). He was ordained a priest as a member of the Congregation of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, on 17 March 1976. After a period of missionary work in Taiwan he was appointed Superior of the Mission sui iuris in Mongolia on 19 April 1992. On 30 April 2002 he was appointed first Prefect Apostolic of Ulaan Baator, Mongolia (Fides Service 1/9/2003 EM lines 14 Words: 134)
