ASIA/TAIWAN - Bishop Huang of Hua Lien, presides celebration for the missionary sending of 43 Cursillos de Cristianidad

Hua Lien (Fides Service) - After an intensive three day course of preparation 43 members of the lay movement Cursillos de Cristianidad in Hua Lien diocese in Taiwan received the missionary mandate from the hands of Bishop Philip Huang Jaw-Ming.
According to Taipei diocesan bulletin Christian Life Weekly, the 43 lay people attended an intense three day course of preparation 18 to 21 August at St Paul’s Mission Centre. This was the first course of this kind after an internal of 8 years. Participants shared experience and drew new courage for witnessing to the faith .
Cursillos of Christianity or Cursillos de Cristiandad movement was started by Mgr. Juan Hervas in 1948 a Mallorca, Spain. It spread around the world to become a universal Church movement. On 29 July 2000 Pope John Paul II received members of the movement which was later officially recognised by the Pontifical Council for the Family on 21 June 2004. Cursillos of Christianity arrived in Taiwan in 1968 and was a great success among the laity, young people in particular.
