Hong Kong (Fides Service) -Pastoral care should meet the needs of today and be adapted to local culture so the message of the Gospel may touch the life of every person who has yet to encounter Jesus Christ. The emerged from a recent Asia Pacific Pastoral Conference held in Hong Kong which focused on the challenges of inculturation which face the local Churches in this part of the world.
According to Hong Kong’s diocesan bulletin Kong Ko Bao 180 theologians and pastoral workers, Catholic and non Catholics from 20 different countries, mainly from the Asia/Pacific regione, took part in the meeting. It was the first time that Hong Kong diocese hosted the meeting and numerous local pastoral workers able to take part were very satisfied with the event.
It emerged that in order to formulate more effective proposals pastoral care must take into consideration the social, cultural historical and regional context. (Agenzia Fides 21/09/2005 Righe: 21 Parole: 212)
