EUROPE/ITALY - International Cooperation Venice-Mozambique: protocol re-launches collaboration in healthcare

Rome (Fides Service) - A protocol to intensify collaboration in medical assistance, formation of personnel and supply of technical equipment between the Italian region of Veneto and the Mozambique province of Sofala has just signed been signed in Venice by the respective representatives. The three year agreement will involve the Italian NGO CUAMM, Doctors with Africa and Padova City Hospital.
The two regions in Africa and Europe have worked together since 1997 to transform the scourges afflicting the people of Sofala into resources by improving health treatment, competence and assistance. This agreement, which according to Dr. Josefo Ferro, director of Beira Central Hospital a structure with 750 beds to serve the 1.5 million people in province of Sofala is unique, supports the local health care system with supplies of hospital equipment and initiatives of formation of local personnel to guarantee proper assistance for the people of the Province.
