Moyobamba (Fides Service) - In the context of the Month of the Bible in the Prelature of Moyobamba, Peru, and with the help of Toledo diocese in Spain, the local Catholic Church authorities have launched an America’s Bible” project to spread the Word of God in every community of this vast ecclesiastical which covers an area of 45,775 sq km. The project entails the distribution of 10,000 Bibles to people in rural districts, especially poor families in forest areas.
The initiative undertaken by the local Church is particularly praiseworthy given the scarcity of church personnel and important because the population of 692,232 has little instruction in the faith and is an easy prey for numerous sects present in this region. The diffusion of the Bible aims to strengthen the work of evangelisation entailing great sacrifice on the part of a handful of pastoral workers and catechists.
