EUROPE/ITALY - “Research to find treatment and offer care”: 7th National Conference of St John of God Association Italy for Bio-medical and Health research

Rome (Fides Service) - Oncology, re-habilitation, traditional and less invasive surgery, molecule biology, tecnologia digital and information technology in healthcare, mental pathologies, pain and its ethical aspects, AIDS, stem cells: these are fields of activity for 300 researchers, St John of God Hospitaller Brothers working all over Europe who will meet in Benevento 22 - 24 September 2005 for the 7th National Conference of AFAR, Association Italy for Bio-medical and Health research.
“Research to find treatment and offer care”: is the theme of the meeting which takes place today when for various reasons medicine is more efficient but further away from the needs of the person. Models of health care and research must cater for a new type of user, patients and social-health interventions.
Numerous scientific novelites will be presented durino the congress in various fields.
This is the 7th annual meeting of AFAR a non profit organisation which aims to promote and realise activities of current and experimental research in the field of Bio-Medicine and Public Healthcare, more specficially in the ambit of psychiatric re-habilitation and cerebral aging, involving also functions of connection and reference among St John of God institutes in Italy and abroad. The research promoted by the association is closely connected with actvity of hospital care to highlight the service of the Hospitaller Brothers of St John of God order founded on respect and solidarity for the sick.
