Hong Kong (Fides Service) - A postive view of the past and encouragement for the future were the main points of a talk for Catholic lay people given by Rev. Lau Francio, new spiritual director of Hong Kong’s central diocesan Laity Council.
According to the diocesan bulletin Kong Ko Bao on taking office Rev Lau asked to meet representatives of each parish in the diocese. At the recent meeting he told them: “The past activity of the Laity Council in Hong Kong is well known and highly appreciated, particularly during the diocesan year of evangelisation. Its success is due to collaboration among parishes and generous commitment of the laity. The parish is not an island, it is part of the diocesan community. The task of the Laity Council is to encouage parishes, movements and associations to work in communion, with reciprocal support, solidarity. We should also to promote vocations to face the ever urgent need to evangelise”.
Hong Kong’s diocesan Laity Council has always been in front line for evangelisation. Besides meetings and pastoral activity it organises courses in Religious Science and on Catholic Doctrine for lay people including young people. (Agenzia Fides 19/09/2005 Righe: 20 Parole: 223)
