Huesca (Fides Service) - On Saturday 17 at the Marian Strine of Torreciudad, Huesca, Spain Cardinal Crescenzio Sepe, Prefect of the Congregation for the Evangelisation of Peoples, will preside the 16th Marian Day of the Family with the participation of thousands of Spanish families from parishes and associations all over the country. Participants will reflect on the need to promote solid families and the understanding that the family is the future of the Church and of humanity. The Day is particularly important at this time when the family and marriage is attacked on many sides in Spain and other countries of Europe and the rest of the world. The Day will also serve to promote the 5th World Meeting of Families scheduled for July 2006 in Valencia, Spain.
This Day of the Family will start at 12 noon with a prayer and offering of families followed by Mass presided by the Cardinal and the reading of a message from Pope Benedict XVI. In the afternoon there will be a Family Music Festival, the recitation of the rosary and the Day will close with Eucharistic Adoration and Benediction. The organisers have arranged an infant care centre where young children may take part in activities suited to their age. (RG) (Agenzia Fides 16/9/2005, righe 17 parole 223)
