AMERICA/PERU - Health Pastoral Care workers discuss how to tackle and prevent HIV/AIDS

Thursday, 15 September 2005

Rome (Fides Service) - The 2nd Meeting of Health Pastoral Care organised on 15 September by the Peruvian Bisops’ Commission for Health Pastoral Care will examine a handbook on education about HIV/AIDS with the title “The best way to prevent AIDS … live sexuality with responsibility” issued by the same Commission.
The book illustrates a special Pastoral Care of Hope for AIDS patients, besides providing information on the causes and consequences of the virus, and how chasity and fidelity in marriage prevent contagion. The meeting is for Health Pastoral Care workers who took part in an earlier meeting 18 and 19 August, and will be held at the head offices of the Peruvian Bishops’ Conference.
The purpose of this second meeting is to discuss the implications of HIV/AIDS in Peru and examine the above mentioned handbook. (AP) (14/9/2005 Agenzia Fides; Righe:17; Parole:164)
