AMERICA/GUATEMALA - Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Guatemala organises 3rd National Meeting for Health Pastoral Care

Guatemala City (Fides Service) - “Catholic Health Pastoral Care for People with HIV/AIDS” was the theme of the 3rd National Meeting for Health Pastoral Care which has just come to an end. The meeting, organised by the Commission for Health Pastoral Care of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Guatemala, was attended by Health Pastoral Care delegates from dioceses, vicariates and prelatures all over the country and representatives of two other Bishops’ Commissions for the Family and for Social Communications. The meeting was chaired by Bishop Pablo Vizcaíno, president of the Commission for Health Pastoral Care.
Important results of the meeting included the formation of a sub-commission to deal with HIV/AIDS comprising representatives of all three commissions, Health Pastoral Care, Family and Communications. Moreover a number of the country’s local Catholic Television Stations agreed to launch awareness campaigns and encouraging fidelity in marriage, chastity, solidarity and acceptance and integration of people with HIV/AIDS.
