Buenos Aires (Fides Service) - “We want to make the Kingdom of God a reality in our families and to announce it without hesitation to other families with joy and hope”. This statement was part of conclusions issued by numerous missionary families from all over Argentina at the end of the 6th National meeting of Missionary Families in the diocese of Lomas di Zamora, Buenos Aires (Argentina), according to a report sent to Fides by Fr. Adrian Santarelli, secretary of the national office of the Pontifical Society for the Propagation of the Faith.
The participants reflected on the theme “Missionary Families to Promote and Defend Life” in order to “increase awareness of the missionary dimension of the family at the service of life” considering the pressing and constant threats against the family and life today. At the end of the three day meeting the familiy participants issued conclusions in which they said that starting from their own family reality they intended to respond to the Church’s call to obey Christ’s command: ‘go and make disciples of all peoples!
The families also promised to promote respect for life from conception to natural end and to work to promote in other dioceses the Holy Spirit’s call to be missionary families which announce and denounce and share the Bread of Life: “Following the example of the Holy Family of Nazareth - the participants affirmed - we promise to safeguard, reveal and communicate the reflection of God’s love for all men and women”. After the meeting some young participants said the experience had strengthened them in their missionary identity and in Christian values and filled them with a desire to hand on to other young people the ideal of the missionary family.
