AMERICA/BRAZIL - Promote, strengthen and evangelise the family: 11th National Congress on Family Pastoral Care on the theme “Family source of life and builder of peace”

São Paulo (Fides Service) - “Family source of life and builder of peace” is the theme of the 11th National Congress in Family Pastoral Care to be held 9 - 11 September in São Paulo at Santa Terezinha Salesian Education Centre. The Congress is organised by the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Brazil CNBB through its Commission for Pastoral Care for the Family and for Life. These congresses are held every three years to “bring together heads of Family Pastoral Care from all over Brazil to reaffirm the main objective: promote, strengthen and evangelise the family”. About 800 participants will include bishops, regional and diocesan heads of Family Pastoral Care from each of Brazil’s 17 church regions. Reflection will focus on a variety of matters including: “Bio-technology and Bio-ethics”, “CNBB and present-day challenges”, “Ethics in TV - Comunication and Family”, “Family’s role in handing on values”, “Family, Eucharist and Mission”, “How can Family Pastoral Care be promoted?”, “Prospects for Family Pastoral Care”.
