Loreto (Fides Service) - About eighty young people who opted for a mission formation experience this Summer organised by the Missionary Youth Movement of the Pontifical Mission Societies gathered on 25 July in Loreto to reflect on "Mission and its Gifts": a week of prayer and indepth study of mission starting from the gifts received. Participants will consider their personal life, the world, the society today with regard to the Christian calling to a relationship with God and to share with others the Good News. The experience will have its highlight in a mission on the beach and in the streets on Saturday 30 July in Porto Recanati seaside resort.
“The youngsters will go in pairs along beaches and streets in Porto Recanati and invite people to a special appointment at a central parish church - said Ivano Lanzafame, secretary of the PMS Missionary Youth Movement. In church there will be exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, adoration with silent and community prayer. There will also be an opportunity to go to confession. Naturally special care will be taken with litugical animation.” The aim is to draw people who have stopped practicing the faith back to church. We want to take them by surprise on the beach and streets perhaps with an icecream in their hand and invite them to church. “We also want to prove that it is possibile to evangelise in daily life and on the streets. We hope that after this experience these young people will be so enthusiastic that when they return home, and they come from various regions of Italy, they will want to do the same thing in their home town ”said Ivano Lanzafame.
