Rancagua (Fides Service) - “We cannot be silent about what we have seen and heard” was the slogan of the 4th Youth Mission Course 14-18 July attended by about 60 young members of JOMIS-OMP the youth section of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Chile. The young people came from various districts of the diocese Santa Cruz Rancagua (Peumo, Machalí, Rancagua, San Vicente di T.T, Pumanque, Nilahue, El Olivar and San Fernando). Fr. Jorge P. Vega Velasco SVD national director of the Pontifical Mission Societies in Chile told Fides that the aim of the course was to bring young people together to share moments of formation, prayer and games in order to increase their mission awareness and commitment and encourage missionary vocations.
The course had two sections: stage one for new JOMIS members, and stage two for members with some missionary experience. The conferences were given by priests, religious, deacons and lay people and Fr. Vega was also invited to address the young participants. He told them of his mission experience in Angola and readily answered their questions. At the end of the course each participant was presented with a diploma.
