ASIA/HONG KONG - After 2 years of study 105 catechists from 25 parishes receive their diploma at a special Mass presided by the Bishop of Hong Kong

Hong Kong (Fides Service) - At the end of a two years course of study 105 new catechists for Hong Kong diocese received their diploma from the Bishop Jospeh Zen and Mgr J. Baptist Tsang Hing Mun of the Diocesan Centre for Catechists at the end of a special Mass in Hong Kong cathedral. According to Hong Kong diocesan bulletin the new catechists are school teachers, pastoral workers, hospital pastoral workers, housewifes, seminarians and men and women religious and they come from 25 different parishes. They will teach religion in 18 middle schools, 10 primary schools and 7 kindergartens.
The cathedral was packed with family and friends of the new catechists who trained for their mission with a two year course of study at the Diocesan Centre for Catechists. In his homily the Bishop encouraged them not to fear difficulties and obstacles in their work and he said: “the Word of God is alway effective, it never fails”. The diocese of Hong Kong can now rely on 105 new catechists well trained and ready to respond to the mandate of the Bishop. (Agenzia Fides 25/07/2005 Righe: 15 Parole: 183)
