OCEANIA/SOLOMON ISLANDS - In view of a new educational project Salesian Sisters visit the Pacific Islands

Rome (Fides Service) - Sr Edna Mary Macdonald and Sr Margaret Bentley, two Salesian Sisters , visited Honiara the capital of the Solomon Islands from 17 to 21 July and then went to Fiji.
The purpose was to consider establishing the presence of Salesian sisters in the Islands to promote the field of education. They would work particularly among the marginalised, for the promotion of women and the education of children.
The two Salesians visited the parish of Christ the King at Tetere, and other local religioius institutes and spent some time in the village of Swagi. (AP) (25/7/2005 Agenzia Fides; Righe:13; Parole:126)
