EUROPE/ITALY - Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of Africa start 23rd general chapter in Rome

Rome (Fides Service)- Today, July 7, the Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of Africa also known as White Sisters, start their 23rd general chapter in Rome
Until 30th July some 42 chapter members from 15 different countries and provincial superiors from 6 provinces of communities in Europe, America and Africa will discuss the theme “Celebrating and building up our communion for Mission”. They will also elect a new Superior General and her advisors.
The institute of the Missionary Sisters of Our Lady of Africa was founded in Algeria in 1869 by Cardinal Charles Lavigerie Bishop of Algiers who also founded the Society of the Missionaries of Africa (White Fathers). Both institutes were founded for the evangelisation of the peoples of Africa with particular respect and attention for the Muslim population.
