Cologne (Fides Service) - On the occasion of the 20th World Youth Day in Cologne 11-21 August, one major attraction will be a giant portrait of the late Pope John Paul II with Cologne cathedral in the background. The portrait is a mosaic of photos sent by 10,000 people from 100 different countries to say thank you to the late Pope who was the “father” of World Youth Days. After only ten days already 10,000 people from 100 different countries had sent in their photopgraph. Most of the snaps come from Poland, Mexico, Brazil and Germany but also people in Vietnam, El Salvador, Uruguay, Indonesia, Ukraine, Bolivia, Nigeria and Israel wanted to say thank you too John Paul II. Each person who sends a digital photo receives an indvidual link identify the position of their photo in an “on-line” version of the Pope’s portrait.
