CHINA - Three new Missionary Servants of the Holy Spirit make perpetual professions on the 100th anniversary of the arrival of the first members of their community

Lan Zhou (Fides Service) - One hundred years ago the first Missionary Servants of the Holy Spirit (Sisters) arrived in China to help the Divine Word Missionary Fathers. Today the congregation continues to offer much appreciated service and also welcomes vocations particularly in Lan Zhou main town of Gan Su province (north west China). To mark the centenary the Community had the joy of welcoming three new perpetual professions. In front of a congregation of at least a thousand family members and friends Sr Wang Hui Qin, Sr Zhu Lan Hua and Sr Ge Lan Jun took vows of poverty, obedience and chastity and promised to devote their lives to serving the Lord as Missionary Servants of the Holy Spirit.
With the Divine Word Missionari Fathers the Missionary Servants of the Holy Spirit run a hospital, an orphanage as well as helping with pastoral work in the diocese of Lan Zhou. The diocese has about 45,000 Catholics gathered in thirty parishes, assisted by 20 priests and 200 women religious, besides Missionary Servants of the Holy Spirit, also Holy Family Sisters and Daughters of Our Lady of China.
