EUROPE/ITALY - “All the Churches for the whole Church”: national meeting of regional and diocesan directors of the Pontifical Mission Societies will discuss identity and service of the PMS Delegate

Tuesday, 28 June 2005

Rome (Fides Service) - “All the Churches for the whole Church” is the theme chosen for a national meeting of regional and diocesan directors of the Pontifical Mission Societies 1 - 3 July at Fraterna Domus in Sacrofano (Rome). Participants will discuss the identity and service of the PMS Delegate. In the letter/invitation to the meeting, National Director for the PMS in Italy Mgr. Giuseppe Andreozzi said the Church in Italy is making a great effort to re-launch mission ad gentes and missionary co-operation among Churches “hence the urgent need to redefine and reinvigorate the manner in which we intend to spend our lives for the universality of the Church.”
Besides information on “Missio” a new mission foundation established by the Church in Italy which includes also the Italian branch of the Pontifical Mission Societies, participants will examine and discuss the activities and initiatives of each of the four Societies in order to identify questions and offer suggestions for better national coordination. The meeting was prepared on the basis of two working papers sent to the participants: the first with regard to diocesan mission centres and the second on relations between the PMS delegate and the National PMS office (what is your opinion on relations with the national PMS offices? How can they be improved? How effective is communication between the National PMS office and mission centres and between national PMS office and Delegates ? Have you any suggestions on how to intensify if necessary the national network of PMS delegates?). (S.L.) (Agenzia Fides 28/6/2005; Righe 18, Parole 253)
