Madrid (Fides Service ) - When on Thursday June 30 the Spanish Congress will take a second vote on the proposed law to give homosexual unions the same status as marriage, pro-family demonstrators who oppose the law will take to the streets again. Although not approved by the Congress Plenum the law will probably pass in this second vote in Congress. Participants at the massive June 18 pro-family demonstration in Madrid requested a meeting with the head of the Spanish government. Since the Premier refused the organisers Hazteoir Platform and Spanish Family Forum (FEF) have convoked another demonstration at Puerta del Sol (Madrid) Thursday 30 June at 2pm. “We the families of Spain will be on the streets again to defend our rights” the organisers said in a note sent to Fides.
This second demonstration will be preceded by similar events the day before Wednesday 29 June in various other cities in Spain including Barcelona, La Coruña, Granada, Seville, Vigo and Zaragoza. These events have been organised and publicised via the Internet. Hazteoir said that after the June 18 pro-family and authentic marriage demonstration in Madrid many of its members received threats and it has appealed for a hearing by the General Procurator to denounce the facts.
