ASIA/TAJIKISTAN - “We firmly support the pro-family demonstration in Madrid: this is not only a question of religion, it concerns of the whole of humanity because the aim is to legalise what is contrary to the law of nature” Superior of Catholic Mission in Tajikistan told Fides

Dushanbe (Fides Service) - The Catholic community in Tajikistan is deeply concerned that the Spanish government is about to pass a law which would give same sex unions the status of marriage and allows homosexual couples to adopt a child, Fr. Carlos Avila IVE, Superior of the Catholic Mission in Tajikistan told Fides.
“This would be contrary to the law of nature. Under no circumstances, temporal, cultural or other can unions of homosexual couples be recognised as marriages. Moreover a child needs a mother and a father, children are already so vulnerable, they need our protection we must not let this happen. We pray to God and his Holy Mother not to allow this aberration”.
The priest said the Catholics of Tajikistan Mission pray “for Catholics and all men and women of goodwill in the noble nation of Spain who oppose this law which violates the human person, human dignity, calling and final destiny. We are close to the people of Spain at this moment when the government intends to impose a model which would destroy the very foundations of society based on respect for the law of nature and healthy and good inclinations which God planted in every human heart”.
The priest said that the small Catholic community in Tajikistan is aware of the problems affecting Christians in the rest of the world and therefore strongly supports the pro-family demonstration in Madrid June 18 because this is not only a question of religion is concerns the whole of humanity and it encourages this democratic initiative to protest against a law which violates the rights of the person, the family, children and society as a whole.
Fr. Avila congratulates all those who decided to take part because Christians cannot be onlookers they must speak for those who have no voice and make governments realise that their duty is to strive for the common good of the whole of society not only to meet the demands of a small group.
Fr. Carlos recalled that Saturday, the day of the demonstration, is dedicated to Our Lady and he promised to pray “like the three shepherd children at Fatima for the conversion of sinners, that God may enlighten members of parliament, legislators and political leaders to respect natural law and not to violate the dignity of the human person”.
