Honiara (Fides Service) - The pro-family demonstration in Madrid capital of Spain on June 18 organised by the people of Spain and to which the Church in Spain has given full backing, is gathering support and encouragement from all over the world. The most recent message of solidarity reached Fides from Catholics on the other side of the world in the Solomon Islands. The local Church in Honiara assures “full support to the people of Spain and the Church in Spain in this important undertaking”.
“We firmly believe in matrimony between a man and a woman, a sacrament, a union for life in view of procreation. Unions of people of the same sex cannot achieve this end. To recognise this claim to family status underpins selfish attitudes and mentalities particularly with regard to the eventual adoption of a child” said the local Church in a message forwarded to Fides by the Catholic Communications Solomons.
Catholics in the Solomons assure the people of Spain their full spiritual support and prayer for a successful demonstration to protect the family as God established.
