ST JOHN’S UNIVERSITY HONORARY DOCTORATE FOR CARDINAL GIOVANNI BATTISTA RE

Rome (Fides Service) – St John’s University established in New York in 1870, which has a branch in Rome, will hold a ceremony of conferring of Masters on July 20. In the presence of Cardinal Pio Laghi, about 40 students, American, Italian and other nationalities will receive their Masters in International Business Relations and Business Administration.
On the occasion of the ceremony the University will confer an honorary doctorate in law on Cardinal Giovanni Battista Re, Prefect of the Congregation for Bishops and President of the Pontifical Commission for Latin America. Other honorary degrees awarded will include: doctorate in Law to Gaetano Gifuni, secretary general of the Presidency of the Republic of Italy; doctorate in Pedagogy Prof. Carlo Rubbia nobel prize for physics; doctorate in Economic Science to Cesare Romiti president of RCS quotidiani spa.
In a statement with regard to the July 20 ceremony the President of the University Rev. Donald J. Harrington CM said: “St John’s is proud to continue its close relationship with Italy and to organise in Rome courses of Business Studies using the American teaching method. For the past seven years our students have benefited from important advantages and an instruction which can truly be called global” .
