Caracas (Fides Service) - A Course in Missiology organised by the National Mission Council of Venezuela will be held in Caracas in September 12 to 16. In a report to Fides Fr José Rafael Villalobos Araujo, DEMIS-SPEV national secretary said “walking the paths of mission we see that every local Church in Venezuela is striving to live its responsibility to be a missionary Church, and as a consequence we see a budding of enthusiastic missionary vocations”. Fidelity to the missionary vocation, in a special way that of the lay people involved in evangelisation in the local Churches, calls for missionary formation suited to the complexity of the world today, for which it is necessary to be properly prepared to meet the challenges encountered.
The objective of the Course is to animate and form local Churches starting from a programme of Missiological Study to help them assume their missionary responsibilities starting from the originality of Venezuelan ecclesial experience. Th Course is open to pastoral workers involved in evangelisation in various sectors of Venezuelan society; those interested in study and research in the field of missionary theology and deepening their faith; in a special way to missionaries ad gentes. The Course has 2 parts. Part 1 has the following plan of study: the urgency of mission, biblical foundations of mission, missionary animation, theology of mission and missionary project.
