AMERICA/CHILE - Two hundred experts in medicine and bio-ethics gather for 4th Latin American Congress of Catholic Doctors

Rome (Fides Service) - Some two hundred experts in medicine and bio-ethics have gathered in Santiago de Chile for the 4th Latin American Congress of Catholic Doctors 29 and 30 April to reflect on the theme “Coming into the world, Living and Dying with Dignity”. One of the objectives is to promote the evangelisation of the medical profession following the teaching of the Catholic Church.
The Congress, held every four years, and being held in Chile for the first time, is organised by FAMCLAM Federation of Latin American Associations of Catholic Doctors and San Lucas Medical Academy. In two intense days the participants will discuss topics of great interest for doctors, educators, sociologists, politicians and the media.
FAMCLAM is part of the International Federation of Associations of Catholic Doctors which has more than 30,000 members .
Among those taking part Cardinal Francisco Javier Errazuriz Archbishop of Santiago and President of the Council of Latin American Bishops’ Conferences C.E.L.A.M., Cardinal Javier Lozano Barragan President of the Pontifical Council for the pastoral care of the sick and healthcare workers, Archbishop Aldo Cavalli papal nuncio, Dr. Juan de Dios Vial, of the Pontifical Academy for Life, Dr. Gian Luigi Gigli President of FIAMC.
