Thursday, 14 April 2005

Amman (Fides Service) - Rev. Raymond Moussalli, Catholic Chaldean priest in Jordan told Fides “the faithful are praying, while waiting to see who the new Pope will be, confident he will be a Good Shepherd, filled with peace and love like our Master and Lord Jesus Christ”. Catholics in Jordan hope “the new Pontiff will promote peace and justice among the Muslim and Jewish peoples in this part of the world. We are all confident that the new Pope will raise his voice in favour of peace and justice” the priest said. He also recalled the tension and conflict in the Middle East and in Iraq, particularly the situation of Iraqi refugees in Amman where they emigrated in search of a more peaceful life.
