VATICAN - The figure of the Blessed Virgin Mary for John Paul II

Friday, 8 April 2005

Vatican City - From the Encyclical Ecclesia de Eucharistia 53: Mary is a “woman of the Eucharist” in her whole life..57: Mary is present, with the Church and as the Mother of the Church, at each of our celebrations of the Eucharist. If the Church and the Eucharist are inseparably united, the same ought to be said of Mary and the Eucharist. This is one reason why, since ancient times, the commemoration of Mary has always been part of the Eucharistic celebrations of the Churches of East and West.62: Above all, let us listen to Mary Most Holy, in whom the mystery of the Eucharist appears, more than in anyone else, as a mystery of light. Gazing upon Mary, we come to know the transforming power present in the Eucharist. In her we see the world renewed in love.
Letter to Priests Holy Thursday 1995 n.8: If the priesthood is by its nature ministerial, we must live it in union with the Mother who is the Handmaid of the Lord
Easter Message urbi et orbi 2003 O Mary, the first tabernacle of history, silent witness of the wonders of Easter, help us to sing with our lives your own Magnificat of praise and thanksgiving,
From the apostolic Letter Rosarium Mariae Virginis 10. The contemplation of Christ has an incomparable model in Mary. In a unique way the face of the Son belongs to Mary. It was in her womb that Christ was formed, receiving from her a human resemblance which points to an even greater spiritual closeness. No one has ever devoted himself to the contemplation of the face of Christ as faithfully as Mary> (Fides Service 8/4/2005)
