Saturday, 2 April 2005

Baku (Fides Service) - Fr Jan Kapla Superior of Baku Catholic Mission in Azerbaijan told Fides that local Orthodox Bishop Alexander was among the many people who have been inquiring about the Pope’s health. He said the Orthodox Bishop voiced his concern and assured his prayers for the Pontiff. “I have been stopped by all sorts of people, pressmen and ordinary men and women on the street, believers and non, many of them Muslims, all anxious for news on the condition of the Pope. The Holy Father is known to all and he is loved particularly by the elderly and those who suffer and here there are many of them: these people seem to feel a sort of solidarity with the Pope as they suffer and he suffers”, Fr Kapla told Fides.
