ASIA/IRAQ - Chaldean Bishop of Mosul: “First Holy Communion children pray for the Pope”: Bishop Paulos Faraj Rahoo speaks with Fides

Friday, 1 April 2005

Mosul (Fides Service) - Also in and around Mosul, in northern Iraq, anxious Catholics are praying for the Pope. Chaldean Catholic Bishop Paulos Faraj Rahho told Fides about the situation: “Yesterday I presided Mass for the First Holy Communion of a large group of our Catholic children in the town Talkef, which lies north of Mosul. When the Mass was over I heard that the Pope’s condition had worsened. We all, including the children, returned to the church to pray for the Pope.
This morning all together we celebrated Morning Prayer for the Pope and his intentions. We are following the news on the media and the entire community in Mosul is waiting and praying. Over Easter many Catholics came to Mosul to celebrate the festivities of the Resurrection in all tranquillity. And all the Christians here have always prayed for the Pope with deep affection”.
