AMERICA/GUATEMALA - Children at Peten Orphanage offer prayers and little sacrifices for the health of the Pope

Friday, 1 April 2005

Petén (Fides Service) - Poor and abandoned children in Guatemala are praying for the Pope, the Dominican Sisters of St Sixtus told Fides. The Sisters run an orphanage at Petén, affected by an earthquake which robbed many children of their homes and parents. Other inmates at the orphanage are children abandoned because of war. The children are cared for and educated. The Sisters told the children about the Pope’s illness and since then they have offered daily prayers and little sacrifices for his recovery.
