AMERICA/COLOMBIA - “Please God make the Pope get better!” kindergarten children pray with teachers

Friday, 1 April 2005

Mocoa-Sibundoy (Fides Service) - Every day at the same time children at Mocoa-Sibundoy kindergarten go to the school chapel to say a special prayer to God the Father. Since the Pope was first admitted to hospital the children, aged 3 to 5, have prayed for him too because the Sister teacher told them “now the Pope is ill he needs our prayers even more”. When the time comes for the prayer and perhaps the teacher is delayed with work, the children ask “aren’t we going to chapel to pray for the Pope today, or is he better now?” But the answer is no, he is not better and so the children go eagerly to the chapel to repeat their prayer with ever greater fervour “Please God make the Pope get better!”.
